Day 243: Viva Las Vegas!

I’m in Sin City for the weekend and will be posting my looks as we go! I’m not sure how much time I’ll have to post, but I promise they’ll all be worth the wait! Cheers!

Day 242: Prep in your step

I’ve always been liked preppy clothes. As a kid, Tommy Hilfiger was my preferred designer and vacationing in the Hamptons is definitely on my bucket list. The preppy look is perfect for summer. Most fabrics are light, crisp and colorful and exude that laid back feeling–even if you aren’t actually feeling that way. (Fake it ’til you make it, remember??) Whether it’s a polo or seersucker shorts, you can’t help but feel summertime happiness while wearing them. Today I grabbed my Lacoste polo because it’s structured enough for a casual day at work. Polos are so comfortable, but the color and fabric make them look professional and savvy. People in polos just look like they know what they’re doing. Today I took the easy way out and paired it with semi-high waisted jeans, but in the future I’d like to try a high waisted skirt or printed shorts. Polos are a great summer staple because they pretty much go with anything.

Day 241: Class-sick

Black and white is one of my favorite classic combinations, but just because something is classic doesn’t mean it can’t be a little twisted. This white skirt is one of my absolute favorites. The cut is extremely flattering on any body type because the cinching at the waist emphasizes the thinnest part of your body, while emphasizing your natural curves. For curvy women, it gives the illusion of a super thin waist, and for boyish builds, it increases your body’s natural curves. It truly has something we can all appreciate! I added a simple black tank top and topped it with this black and white blazer. This blazer was one of the best things I’ve ever bought. It’s classic and will never go out of style, but it has a little edge to it that doesn’t make it stuffy or boring. When you put it all together, you get a classy, updated look. I added a little frosting to amp up the Breakfast at Tiffany’s vibe, but I still needed a little sickness to bring it all together. I decided to wear these pink sandals to contrast with the regal feel of the black and white. I love traditional fashion winners, but getting a little creative makes it that much more fun!

Day 240: Sharing is caring

Friends are for sharing secrets, laughs, tears and, of course, clothes! Who would want one closet when you can have five (or more)? When my friends and I get ready to go out, there is inevitably someone who borrows something or talks about wanting to borrow something in the future. In college, living in a sorority house was the mecca of clothes sharing. There was always someone with something you needed for a party or occasion. I’ve been dying for a white blazer, and my friend Anna left this one with me a while ago. She keeps forgetting to pick it up and after skimming past it for weeks, I finally decided she wouldn’t mind if I took it for a little day trip out of my closet until she returns. White blazers are perfect for summer. Black blazers day in and day out at the office are SO tiresome. White gives you a fresh, crisp look and instantly updates outfits you’ve worn a few times. It’s pretty hot in Arizona to wear this throughout the day, but out to eat in the evening is the perfect time to give it a little nightlife. For nicer climates, white blazers are perfect for evening outdoor activities and were essentially made for cruises! And if this post hasn’t already convinced you to buy a white blazer, they also make you look really, really tan.

Day 239: Buzz buzz

Today I went for a rebel girl’s version of matchy-matchy. It’s no secret I love mixing patterns, and today’s outfit is tame enough for any skeptic. I centered my look around this yellow and black patterned, high-waisted skirt. When the pattern is eye catching on its own, you want to make sure it stays the center of attention. In order to do that, I chose this simple white shirt with lace shoulder detail. A plain white shirt would obviously match just fine, but to shake things up and make your look more dynamic, look for staples with small twists. The lace compliments the busy pattern perfectly. The colors of the skirt are extremely convenient because they also happen to be my favorite colors to wear in regard to jewelry. I pulled out my black, gold and white items and mixed them without thinking about it too much. Usually I wouldn’t wear a white ring and a black bracelet together, but I think they compliment each other nicely with this look. I chose sandals to bottom the whole thing off because this skirt can go from short to miniscule before you know it!
