Day 334: Denim doll

The majority of my day was spent in my swim suit, but when I was out of the water I threw on this denim dress. It’s fun for summer and really easy to throw on after the pool. I’m not a big fan of overalls so this is my take on that trend. No fuss dresses are my go-to during the summer!

Day 333: College Colors Day

Today is College Colors Day! Students and alumni across the country repped their schools today in honor of the first Friday of the school year, plus most colleges have their first football games of  the season this week/weekend. I, of course, am showing my pride for the red and blue. I bought this shirt when I went down to Tucson a few weekends ago and thought it was only appropriate that it be debuted today! I am a huge fan of college sports, especially football and basketball, and I don’t miss any chance to show love for my Wildcats. Sports gear can be really fun to transform into trendy, feminine pieces. These days companies like Victoria’s Secret do it for us, but don’t be afraid to do it yourself! I like to combine my college shirts with high-waisted cotton skirts and patterned pants. You’re still dressing like everyone else, but with a twist. I hope you’re all wearing your colors today! Bear Down!

Day 332: Fall for merlot

Today’s outfit has a bit of a dark palette for summer, but as it comes down to the wire of this year-challenge, I’m starting to have to get creative! I knew for sure I’d never worn this combination before and it’s cold enough at work that it would be comfortable. One major #ArizonaProblem would be that when it’s scorching outside, it’s freezing inside! It can cause a lot of issues when you’re trying to decide what to wear for the day. Today I chose these merlot pants and a grey button down. With other colors, it might be boring, but using neglected grey and a gorgeous deep merlot make it much more interesting. With September upon us, this look is actually a really great one to pull out for fall. Warm-hued pants and neutral tops with flats will be a go-to look of mine for sure–considering it already is! When I wear grey, it’s really hard for me to pair it with gold jewelry, it just clashes to me, so I  added silver accents to keep everything how I like it.

Day 331: Party in the USA

I haven’t had a nice red, white and blue outfit in a while and this morning I decided it was time to bring out my inner American. I love this blue and white polka dotted skirt–especially when it’s paired with bold colors. I’ve worn it with a bright pink shirt before, but I just can’t decide which pairing I like more. Today’s look is super summertime patriotic. I paired the skirt with a red Lacoste p, which is not exactly American, but they sure know how to make a beautiful, bold color! I’ve had this shirt for years and it’s still fresh and bright. This is one of those items that is definitely worth the money spent on it. I added white sandals to be a little matchy with the skirt and red, white and gold accessories to tie everything together. I really like how this outfit turned out. It’s fun, preppy and ready for sunshine!

Day 330: Basic blues

Today’s outfit is very girl next door. When I was in high school, that term was what many girls hoped to be called. Now, I think some would call her “basic.” I hate that people are using that word as a bad thing. At some point, everyone dresses in basics. It’s very hard to avoid. You don’t have to be a glamazon or on every trend every single day. Today’s outfit is cute, but easy, which is what I always want in the summer. Today is a bit humid and I didn’t want to fuss with any difficult looks or fabrics. I settled on my favorite Joe’s skinny jeans and this flowered top. I ended the look with simple Coach flats–probably a super basic thing to do. This whole outfit makes me feel a bit Katie Holmes, but it worked so well for work. Even though I like to experiment with fashion, there’s no shame in being a little basic once in a while!
