Don’t block me out

Wow, I’ve really been slacking! In my defense, I was sick for a week, but I digress. Today’s outfit is very modern office. I looked in my closet for a dress and I saw this lovely color-blocked one that I haven’t worn in ages. It’s very flattering and comfortable–which isn’t easy for your average office dress. I started dressing a lot less traditionally professional recently. When I first started my job, I was all slacks, pencil skirts and blazers. Not only did that get a little boring, it isn’t very realistic in the offices most of us work in now. Very few of my friends have to dress like that every day. I didn’t want to get sucked back into the “Office Space” style dressing by pulling out this dress, so I chose a few items to keep it fresh. First, this blazer. It’s eye-catching, modern and super cute. It is still professional, but it doesn’t look too stuffy. Plus, it makes this dress look more interesting instead of making it look more straight-laced. I added some tights to keep me warm and patent heels to end it all on a polished note. I added some light black and gold jewelry items to bring my usual hint of glam.

Ciao Bella

Sorry I’ve been really slacking on this! After my post-a-day obligation, I feel so free of constrictions that I sometimes forget until it’s too late! Today’s outfit contains another one of the spoils from my New York trip. After being surrounded by Italians and East Coast vibes for days, I saw this sweater and obviously knew I had to buy it. I mean, it was essentially speaking right to me. One thing I forgot to capture with this sweater, that I will undoubtedly get next time, is there are these great zippers on the sides. I know, how could I forget to photograph the zippers?! I guess I’ll just have to wear it again soon. I paired it with these olive pants because I’m still obsessed with this color and still believe it will be hot again this year. It’s a great not-so-neutral. You can treat it as such, but it’s not your typical black or brown. I added some casual sandals because it’s barely breaking 80 around here. Those in cold weather, send it here! I’m dying to be cozied up in a thick sweater with a latte.

Day 357: Golden girl

I love to dress up, but sometimes mixing and matching dressy and casual items is just as fun. It’s getting hard to remember what I haven’t worn, so I went with something easy, but encouraged. I pulled out this camel mini skirt to wear with a black T-shirt. By mixing the structured, business skirt with a simple T-shirt, you relax the former and class up the latter. I added gold sandals and a chunky gold necklace to elevate the whole look and to make it more interesting. Basics are always a do, but make them work for you with your accessories and shoes.

Day 337 & 338: Gold and sinus

I have been once again plagued with allergies and was out of commission yesterday. Trust me–no one needs to see the outfit I wore yesterday, no one! In an effort to feel better today, I picked out a fun black and white number with a burst of color. These are my favorite skinny jeans because they are so worn in and comfortable, yet the dark wash is still good as new. I added this striped jacket over a relaxed white tee to dress it up and make it a little more business casual. I didn’t want to be completely monochrome, so I added a fun bit of pink with my sandals. Whenever I wear plain T-shirts, I like to wear a fun or chunky necklace with it. I chose this long bow necklace to elongate my torso against the horizontal stripes. This outfit is perfect to get me over the hump this week!

Day 331: Party in the USA

I haven’t had a nice red, white and blue outfit in a while and this morning I decided it was time to bring out my inner American. I love this blue and white polka dotted skirt–especially when it’s paired with bold colors. I’ve worn it with a bright pink shirt before, but I just can’t decide which pairing I like more. Today’s look is super summertime patriotic. I paired the skirt with a red Lacoste p, which is not exactly American, but they sure know how to make a beautiful, bold color! I’ve had this shirt for years and it’s still fresh and bright. This is one of those items that is definitely worth the money spent on it. I added white sandals to be a little matchy with the skirt and red, white and gold accessories to tie everything together. I really like how this outfit turned out. It’s fun, preppy and ready for sunshine!
