I wanted to feature this outfit because I think it is the perfect balance of work and play for the office. The bright orange sweater contrasted with the navy blue skirt keep things interesting and light–it doesn’t make you feel stuffy and stuck in a cubicle. Sometimes getting dressed is the best part of my day, so I always try to make it count. Feeling good when you leave the house is the key to feeling good all day long. I added these awesome, strappy brown heels because our weather permits it. I might as well take advantage of our perks! All of you bundled up in the East and Midwest can get your revenge when we’re melting in 100 degree temperatures. I not only got these heels on sale, but I also love how different they are. Sometimes wearing shoes that go up to your ankle can cut your leg off, and flatter your figure less. I think the pattern of the heels work against that and end up elongating my leg in a really nice way. I topped everything off with a long grey sweater because my thin blood keeps me from warmth whenever we get into the 60s around here. I love winter layers, it’s so much more fun!

At the end of last winter, I did a massive closet cleaning–one Eminem would be proud of. It felt good to get all of my old, bally sweaters out and make room for my new spring and summer clothes. The downside, for my wallet anyway, is that I’m now forced to restock my closet with winter essentials. The other weekend I went just a liiiittle crazy and I have a closet full of fresh clothes to prove it. Now is the perfect time to stock up on winter tops and scarves, especially in Arizona, because they’ve already been out a while. Retailers seem to forget we don’t actually have cold weather until at least late November. Every year, they roll out keep-you-warm everything in September, when we’re still regularly wearing shorts. So by now, those clothes are on sale and we’re finally able to wear them. It’s almost too perfect. That’s why I wait for clothes to marinate a while before I start re-building my wardrobe. I love a good deal and just the other day I got this sweater (along with two others) for $50 total at H&M! They had a BOGO on select sweaters; it was a great day. Although I did get lots of necessary items, I’m still on the hunt for more. I could very well have a problem.
