That’s a stretch

So, you go shopping and buy some beautiful new shoes. They’re a little tight, but you look in the mirror and see how perfectly they look on you and ALL of the outfits you could wear them with. The shoe salesman promises you that, of course, they’ll stretch. An amateur would wear their new pair out and about over and over until they get worn in. As a seasoned veteran, I know this is the absolute worst idea in the world. For example, I bought these beautiful new booties to wear on my trip this weekend. How will I make sure they are nice and comfortable by Friday? Well, dear reader, I will tell you. One of the perks of sitting down for almost the entire eight hours you’re at work? Stretching your shoes. Your feet aren’t subjected to dancing, walking long distances or standing for hours. Instead, they get to sit comfortably under your desk. I’m not going to lie, your toes might still get a little tingly, but, hidden safely under your desk, you can give your feet a little break. Do that outside of the bar and get ready to be judged–or at the very least, very dirty feet. While you’re not wearing your shoes, stuff socks in them to keep their shape and continue a little extra stretching. I paired my new beauties with tights, a black and white striped dress and this comfortable sweater. The dress looks chic while the sweater warms my look (and me) up! I’ll be sure to get a photo of these booties with my Friday night look too!

Working for the weekend

I wanted to feature this outfit because I think it is the perfect balance of work and play for the office. The bright orange sweater contrasted with the navy blue skirt keep things interesting and light–it doesn’t make you feel stuffy and stuck in a cubicle. Sometimes getting dressed is the best part of my day, so I always try to make it count. Feeling good when you leave the house is the key to feeling good all day long. I added these awesome, strappy brown heels because our weather permits it. I might as well take advantage of our perks! All of you bundled up in the East and Midwest can get your revenge when we’re melting in 100 degree temperatures. I not only got these heels on sale, but I also love how different they are. Sometimes wearing shoes that go up to your ankle can cut your leg off, and flatter your figure less. I think the pattern of the heels work against that and end up elongating my leg in a really nice way. I topped everything off with a long grey sweater because my thin blood keeps me from warmth whenever we get into the 60s around here. I love winter layers, it’s so much more fun!

I woke up like this

I am absolutely obsessed with this grey and white sweater. The neutral combination allows it to be worn with an infinite amount of items, but the best part is that it’s not one bit boring. I was immediately drawn to this sweater because of the pattern of lines and shapes and the way it drapes beautifully down the front. This is my final New York trip purchase–courtesy of one of my lovely aunts. I decided to really have fun with this sweater and mix it with these Merlot-colored pants. The contrast is great and makes the look really interesting. To keep neutral-colored sweaters interesting, pair them with colored pants. The color will pop while the sweater keeps it grounded. I bottomed off the outfit with these great lace-up grey boots. They don’t match perfectly, but that’s okay. Browns and greys in different hues still compliment each other while keeping things from looking too planned out. These days, people would rather look like they “woke up like this” than like they spent an entire day searching for the right items to put together. Fake that flawless look with these techniques!

Ciao Bella

Sorry I’ve been really slacking on this! After my post-a-day obligation, I feel so free of constrictions that I sometimes forget until it’s too late! Today’s outfit contains another one of the spoils from my New York trip. After being surrounded by Italians and East Coast vibes for days, I saw this sweater and obviously knew I had to buy it. I mean, it was essentially speaking right to me. One thing I forgot to capture with this sweater, that I will undoubtedly get next time, is there are these great zippers on the sides. I know, how could I forget to photograph the zippers?! I guess I’ll just have to wear it again soon. I paired it with these olive pants because I’m still obsessed with this color and still believe it will be hot again this year. It’s a great not-so-neutral. You can treat it as such, but it’s not your typical black or brown. I added some casual sandals because it’s barely breaking 80 around here. Those in cold weather, send it here! I’m dying to be cozied up in a thick sweater with a latte.

Winter darling

Yesterday I was happily surprised at how cool it was outside, and I was completely unprepared outfit-wise. I vowed to not make the same mistake today. The result: a beautiful sweater dress and legging combo fit for any winter darling. I bought this gorgeous brown and gold sweater at Mango while I was on my New York adventure. I fell in love with it instantly–plus it was on sale! It’s really warm, but not too much for our “freezing” Arizona weather. I added black leggings with a vegan leather stripe (it’s hard to tell in the photo) for a comfortable, but put together look. I could literally wear this every day of my life and be happy. SO comfy. I love these leggings because they stay up and have keptĀ  their black color really nicely. I added my black motorcycle boots for a relaxed look, but tall black leather boots would make it look a little more polished. I’ll definitely be doing that another day this season. When it’s cold and I’m wearing long sleeves, I like to keep my jewelry pretty simple. I added my “A” necklace and my new Michael Kors twisting rings–which I’m obsessed with for multiple reasons, one of which is that I got it during a rare Nordstrom sale. I am so glad winter is finally starting to hit Arizona, I’ve been staring longingly at my cold weather clothes for too long!
